Our Story

In March 2022, just a month after the Russia-Ukraine war broke out, the first emergency support team from Light and Love Home arrived in Poland. The team visited the refugees in the border area between Poland and Ukraine, as well as shelter facilities managed by different non-profit organisations.

Shortly afterwards, we established three Ukrainian Reception Centres in Zabrze and Krakow within the following four months.

In the meantime, we recruited volunteers from different parts of the world, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Botswana and Hong Kong and more. Our team is composed of volunteers from different professional backgrounds including legal professions, business, accounting and finance, social services, teaching, childcare, nursing, engineers, building services, household support, and more.

As we are developing, to help integrating into the community more effectively, we have strengthened local services, co-organised activities with other schools and non-profit organisations, regularly run different interest programmes and activities, focused resources on supporting students and new immigrants, and providing them with free courses.
